The 475MW co-generation power plant is being developed by a consortium led by TAQA and JERA.
Mitsubishi Power, part of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, has secured a gas turbine supply order from Samsung C&T Corporation Saudi Arabia.
Mitsubishi Power will supply its M501JAC combined-cycle (CCGT) hydrogen-ready gas turbine for a new industrial steam and electricity co-generation plant in Saudi Arabia.
The co-generation power plant, with a capacity of 475MW, is being developed by a consortium led by the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) and Japanese power generation company JERA.
The facility will serve a petrochemical complex in Jubail, Eastern Province, and is owned by a special purpose entity with TAQA holding a 51% stake and JERA 49%.
The plant will supply power to the Saudi Aramco Total Refining and Petrochemical Company (SATORP) Strategic Expansion, a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and TotalEnergies.
This project is set to feature one of the Gulf region’s largest mixed-load steam crackers.
